One of the interesting things about this is it made possible by some of the same tools that make outsourcing and democratization of innovation work. The fact that you are a billionaire but you are using many of the fundamental technologies that enable large crowds of amateurs devoting small amounts of time to participate in science, rather than being one of a billion people you are one person with a billion dollars.
