Hello everyone, I am Shelley Marks, a college instructor from the city of Miami, Florida. I am the co-founder of National Allegiance of College Instructors (NACI), a non profit organization for college teachers all ove the United States. NACI actually aims to unite college teachers and host an open and broad sharing of the best teaching practices which will give room to further improvement on the quality of teaching and consequently, the quality of education all over the country. I have been a college instructor for more than a decade now. I am going to celebrate my 11th year of teaching this coming September. I am proud to say that I came from four generations of teachers and instructors. My great grandfather was the first teacher in our lineage. He was educated in Brown University and is a proud ivy-league instructor. My grandmother on the other hand was one of first few female instructors who taught in the University of Florida. She is also one of the most recognized local writers and until she retired, she was a generous contributor of essays for the Florida Sunday Chronicle and the Journal for Collegiate Pedagogy. As a child, it has been my dream to follow the footsteps of my great grandfather and my grandmother who both contributed significantly in the world of education. I am striving hard to uplift the quality of instruction by organizing seminars, trainings as well as conferences both locally and nationally. The organization I found (NACI) is actually on its way to organize its first national convention for college instructors this coming fall.
