Ondrej specializes on development of foresight methods and their utilization in formulation of development strategies and concepts. Ondrej has participated in creation of background papers and studies for up-date of the National policy of research, development and innovation in the Czech Republic, especially in terms of identification of national priorities of oriented research, development and innovation as well as issues concerning R&D infrastructure. He specializes himself also on relations between RDI and regional development.

Ondrej has participated in several international research projects utilizing foresight methods, e.g. European Foresight Monitoring Network, FutureFood6, iKnow, Joint Programming Initiative Healthy Diet for Healthy Life, and iKnowFutures. He is a co-author of publications Analysis of innovation potential of Analysis of Innovation Potential of Czech Regions, Future of Food Quality and Safety in the Czech Republic, and Green Paper of Research, Development and Innovation, which formed basis for formulation of National Policy of Research, Development and Innovation of the Czech Republic for 2009 – 2015.
